Salehe Bembury has been one of the creative forces behind New Balance's most recent dominance in the collaborative footwear space.
Bembury’s second reimagining of the silhouette, the new 2002R is called “Water Be The Guide”, inspired by a recent trip to Havasu Falls, which is located in the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Shifting focus from the desert to water — as his previous 2002R took design cues from Arizona's Antelope Canyon — “Water Be The Guide” boasts a deep teal colourway that is meant to show the comparison of the cold and warm colours of Havasu Falls.
Hairy suede, leather and mesh make up the material composition of the 2002R silhouette, which pairs the 2002 upper with a 860V2 sole unit. On the side of the sneaker, you will find a shearling ’N’ logo that brands the pair in a distinctive fashion.
